Below are some notes about subjects which may be relevant to Rhydian and his career in music
Music Charts
Music charts are compiled by the "Official Charts Company" and they count up the number of albums and downloads sold to consumers.
Digital Sales
The Official Charts Company issued a new set of rules in August 2009 and they do now count any digital sale to a consumer - so it won't matter whether you buy a physical CD or download from amazon, or hmv, or play, or iTunes. http://www.theofficialcharts.com/docs/Official%20UK%20Charts%20Album%20Chart%20Rules%20August%202009.pdf
Official Classical Charts
The Combined Classical Chart is usually known as 'the classical chart'. It is released each week on ClassicFM's Saturday program "The Official Classic FM Chart program"
In 2009 a 2nd chart was created, restricted to only those albums which are purely classical. It is published each week by the magazine Gramophone. This chart is known as the "Specialist Classical Chart".
Both charts are prepared by the Official Charts Company from sales made.

Gold & Platinum Discs
In the UK, albums are certified as 'Gold' or 'Platinum' by the British Phonographic Industry and only is they are asked to do so and paid a fee. For the purposes of certifying an album as 'Gold' or 'Platinum' they count albums shipped out by the manufacturer (not sales to consumers) They do not count downloads made.
